Studio Maestro was established in 2011 and is known for its bold development of new Australian work. It collaborates with both emerging and established theatre and film makers with the aim of entertaining, inspiring and challenging the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide.
Sandy Maestro is the founder and artistic director of Studio Maestro. Her previous theatre directing credits include the short plays Shockhold Syndrome, Five Chairs, The Aroma of Love and Life, Please Ensure Your Cell Phone Is Turned Off and Brrrrrring It! – Short and Sweet Festivals 2011 – 2013, Concrete Moments – Sydney Fringe Festival 2012, Hold and Brrrrrring It! as part of Hi! How Can I Help You? – Sydney Fringe Festival 2010. Sandy was nominated Best New Talent for her involvement at Short+Sweet Sydney 2011 in the roles of actor/ director for Brrrrrring It! and director for Please Ensure Your Cell Phone Is Turned Off.
She holds a Masters in Film and Digital Image from the Sydney College of the Arts and a Graduate Certificate in Design Science (Film and Digital Video) from the University of Sydney. Sandy has gained valuable experience working in various roles in film and TV including production, writing and directing. Sandy received instruction in Stage and Vocal Performance through Cellblock Youth Service’s Short Changed Project, developing and performing dramatic pieces to promote mental health and youth suicide prevention.
